Senior Vice President and chair of the Arts & Culture Practice
As senior vice president and chair of the Arts & Culture Practice, Paulo Pereira Lima, Ph.D. has more than a decade of communications experience providing account management, community and media relations and strategic counsel for not-for-profits, corporate and government entities.
A senior leader of the team, Paulo currently works with the LA County Census 2020 We Count campaign, and has serviced clients such as Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Zimmer, L.A. Care Health Plan, Community Health Councils, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), The Foundation of Health Coverage Education, and Medivation, Inc./Pfizer, among others.
Paulo also plays an integral part in driving LAGRANT COMMUNICATIONS’ presence in the arts and culture industry as the chair of the Arts & Culture Practice. He has managed clients such as Center Theatre Group (Ahmanson, Mark Taper and Kirk Douglas), Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, The Pasadena Playhouse, Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT), California African American Museum (CAAM) and more. Relying on his experience in the field, his efforts drove an increase in ticket sales for productions such as The Trip to Bountiful, Ain’t Misbehavin, DanceBrazil, Satchmo at the Waldorf, Fly, Julia and Companhia Urbana de Dança. Most recently, he executed a private reception welcoming the newly appointed Santa Barbara County Arts Commission Executive Director Sarah York Rubin.
In addition, Paulo develops content for Afro-Brazilian.com as the editorial director. Afro-Braillian.com is the first website dedicated to bridging the gap between African American and Afro-Brazilian cultures.
Prior to joining the agency, Paulo spent 12 years in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries, where he first served as customer service director for United Airlines in the São Paulo International Airport. After relocating to the United States, Paulo continued his career in the hospitality industry with the Charter at Beaver Creek in Avon, Colo.
Paulo holds a bachelor's degree in geography from the Department of Philosophy, Letters and Humanities at Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil and a master’s in theater arts from California State University, Long Beach. In 2014, he received his doctorate in theater and performance studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
A native of Brazil, Paulo is fluent in English and Portuguese and is conversational in Spanish. Paulo's love and interest for traveling have led him to visit five of the world's seven continents.
