As the vice president/managing director of the firm’s Dallas office, Lee oversees the Travel and Tourism accounts and builds the Entertainment and Sports Practice. He provides strategic and senior counsel to the American Airlines and Bahamas Ministry Of Tourism accounts. Lee also coordinates interviews and media coverage through established relationships with national, regional and local African American and general market media.
Lee brings to the firm more than 12 years of experience in strategic planning, media relations, crisis communications, community relations, employee relations, multicultural communications, special event planning and editorial services.
Prior to joining the firm, Lee was a communications consultant where he partnered with numerous private and nonprofit organizations to develop and reinforce various aspects of their communications strategy. He has worked with organizations such as the National Marrow Donor Program, Bellwood School District 88, Courage Center, Metropolitan State University, NiRiArt, Holmgren Consulting, Inc., Michael & Partners, Susan Jacobs Advertising and Public Relations and other government entities.
Lee also served as Chief of Communications & Public Affairs of Minneapolis Public Schools. He was responsible for overseeing both internal and external communications for the 38,000-student school district. In addition, Lee served as the organizations’ official media spokesperson and restructured the Communications & Public Affairs Department to better meet the needs of students, parents, community members, news media and staff.
Earlier in his career, Lee served in senior communications positions at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Courage Center, and Head Start of Greater Dallas, Inc. Respectively, he was responsible for development of strategic communications plans, media relations, crisis communications, special events management and Web site content management.
Lee is a former columnist for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, Minnesota’s oldest African American community newspaper. He has also written for the Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Dallas Weekly, Insight News and Minnesota Women’s Press.
Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from Metropolitan State University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Organizational Management at Concordia University. Lee is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the National Association of Black Journalists.
In his spare time, Lee enjoys reading, writing, collecting African and African American art, listening to music, shopping, traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends.
