As management supervisor, Iris Hosea manages the day-to-day public relations and advertising activities for Southern California Edison (SCE) and is responsible for executing public relations campaigns for The California Wellness Foundation and Broadway Federal Bank. For all accounts, Iris oversees account management, handles media relations, develops communications plans and implements tactics.
Iris joined the firm as an account executive producing fresh and creative ideas that aided in the development and implementation of public relations and advertising campaigns. Since then, she has implemented an award winning campaign for SCE and received honors with a PRism award from Public Relations Society of America. She has contributed her efforts on the American Airlines account to secure media placements in the Bahamas for The Family Reunion Sweepstakes and other projects for national media coverage. Iris also lead the team to conduct media outreach for American Cancer Society (ACS) during Colon Cancer Awareness month and during Multicultural Cancer Awareness Week. Her work with ACS earned Iris their highest honor; the Special Recognition Award.
Prior to working with the agency, Iris worked for the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) in event management. For TACC, she assisted in coordinating its 2004 Black History Celebration, one of the largest in the Southland. She also spearheaded the Torrance Chamber Business Expo and assisted with leading several of the chamber’s monthly mixers.
In 2002, Iris formed the company Sankofa Excursions. Along with her partner, she embarked on her interest to share with others the experience of traveling abroad. Iris led a group of 10 to West Africa for a twelve-day tour. For Sankofa Excursions, she handled publicity, accounting, recruitment, travel arrangements and package logistics.
Iris received her bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She was the president of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), director of the student-run PR firm and member of the Pan Afrikan Union (PAU).
