HEALTH FESTIVAL
Los Angeles, CA (March 1, 2004) - - The
California Science Center announced plans today to launch
the West Coast April 3 premiere of The Changing Face of
Women’s Health exhibit with a "Making Healthy
Choices" Women’s Health Festival. This one-day
free celebration takes place on April 3, 2004 from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. and will feature celebrity guests, health experts,
resource providers, performance artists and a host of health
related special activities geared toward inspiring women
and their families to explore key health and well-being
issues.
“The Science Center is pleased to
present the West Coast debut of the Changing Face of Women's
Health and to launch it in such an exciting way with the
"Making Healthy Choices" Women's Health Festival,
" notes Jeffrey N. Rudolph, President of the California
Science Center. " We hope that women throughout Southern
California will take advantage of the Festival and exhibit
as an opportunity to learn more about caring for their health
and to share concerns and experiences while discovering
new ways to enhance their well-being."
Highlights of the Women's Health
Festival will include:
• Breakout panel discussions throughout
the day on health, teen and special issues and will be lead
by some of today’s leading experts. Panels will cover
a broad range of subjects, such as cancer, alternative medicine,
mental health, teenage pregnancy and menopause.
• The Fitness Zone, a space where women can learn
more about the benefits of yoga, Tai Chi, Self Defense Pilates
and much more from leaders in their fields.
• The Beauty Zone, a designated
area where professional vendors will provide pedicures,
manicures and massages, as well as a section where women
can relax while sampling foods from select exhibitors.
• The Kids Zone, a place where your
children can experience fun activities designed just for
them. Watch your kids learn in a fun, safe environment through
such innovative events as a dance class, a drawing contest,
and cooking lessons.
This festival has been made possible through
a grant provided to The California Science Center by UniHealth

The Changing Face of Women’s
Health Exhibit
The Changing Face of Women’s Health, an immersive
exhibition makes a dramatic statement in terms of just how
far women’s health has come in the past 50 years -
- with visuals, video, art and interactive exhibits, which
address a number of issues including: why many American
women are “conditioned” to be obsessed with
body image, illuminating how the actions of our youth have
a huge impact on our later years, and touching on issues
universally experienced by women at every stage of life.
The Changing Face of Women’s Health
will :
• dispel misconceptions of what
ranks as the #1 killer of women (it’s heart disease,
not breast cancer)
• spotlight landmark studies that changed our understanding
not only of women’s health, but forged the way for
new and innovative treatments for males
• showcase the most up-to-date scientific information
on women’s health
promote learning, prompt open discussion and impress upon
visitors the role each one of us -- young and old, male
or female -- can take in maximizing our health.
