AWARD WINNER—Rutely Conde, ethnic communications manager for Southern California Edison (SCE), receives “Advertiser of the Year” award from West Coast Black Publishers Assn. President Cloves Campbell, Jr., and WCBPA Past President Cheryl Brown at the organization’s recent 20th annual leadership conference in Phoenix. A trade association of more than 20 member newspapers published in 18 markets in the western United States, WCBPA advances the cause of the black press and provides regional and national corporate advertisers an editorial vehicle for the effective marketing of their products and services to the black community. Over the years, SCE has cultivated relationships with several WCBPA-member newspapers in California to provide African American communities with energy- and cost-saving information.
