RESPONSIBLE TO: Keisha N. Brown, SVP/GM
STATUS: Full-time - 40+ hours/week
SALARY/WAGES: $28,500 – 43,750 plus bonus
CLASSIFICATION: Entry level
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct the day-to-day activities of assigned accounts; provide counsel to the client; write press releases, feature stories, media alerts, fact sheets, biographies, and general correspondence. Pitch stories to the media; research material for clients; be present during client meetings and conference calls; interact with local media on a regular basis; actively participate in meetings; participate in strategic creative brainstorming meetings; serve as back up to supervisor when he/she is not present; manage monthly invoicing for accounts/clients; and go above and beyond the scope of work. Work with advertising team to execute campaigns for clients by serving as the conduit between the agency and the client. Assist with research and development of new business proposals when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Multicultural experience, particularly working with the African American consumer market is needed.
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising or English.
- Two to three years experience in public relations or communications.
- Strong writing skills.
- Knowledge of Macintosh computers.
- Must have own car and be available to do evening and weekend assignments.
- Must be well organized, flexible, have ability to manage multiple tasks, possess adequate time management skills, self-starter, ambitious, analytical, critical thinker, active listener and goal oriented.
- Ability to work with diverse communities.
